Blik Wall Decals with Photos on Canvas

Wall decals are another great way to add some art to your walls. We have found some great removable wall decals from Blik located in Venice Beach, California. Check out their all new fresh looking site at whatisblik.com. We recently installed their “Boodalee Trees” and a custom canvas print for a kid’s room. If you want to take your room’s look to the next level, try installing some wall decals as a background graphic and adding some gallery wrapped photos on canvas along with it.

Custom Polaroid Photo Prints

A great project that we just wrapped up for a Los Angeles photographer was turning his iPhone photos into Polaroid looking prints. These prints were printed on our semimatte photo paper and then mounted to .25″ thick substrate so he could hang on a wall. We loved his photos and can’t wait to see how these look displayed on his wall.

Artist Dennis Ryan’s Giclees on Canvas

Artist Dennis Ryan from Pennsylvania collaborated with us to produce some Giclee prints of his original pieces of art. Dennis is a fine artist that paints, draws and prints about psychological disorders, anxiety, phobias, depression, focused on OCD—obsessive compulsive disorder. We were very thrilled to work with Dennis and look forward to working with him in the future. These awesome canvas prints were all printed on our premium matte canvas and stretched on 3/4″ stretcher bars. To learn more about Dennis and his art click here.

What Are Giclee Prints?

Print
Given the fact that we produce custom canvas prints, art paper prints and photo prints, we are sometimes asked the question by customers if these are giclee prints. Most of the time I want to answer yes because I feel every print we produce is a piece of art, but a giclee print refers specifically to an artist’s digital reproduction on a high resolution inkjet printer with archival inks.

The French word “giclée” (pronounced Gee’clay) means a spray or a spurt of liquid. The term refers to an inkjet printing method to reproduce an artist’s original artwork on canvas, fine art papers and photo papers. A giclee print is produced using only the highest resolution scanners, printers and archival inks.

The first step of the process is to create a high resolution scan of the artist’s orginal work. The second step is the proofing process which involves color correcting the file in Photoshop to match the original as close as possible. Finally, once the artist is satisfied with the color, the file is digitally archived and reproductions can be made on a on demand basis.

The great thing about giclee prints is that artists do not have to sell their original and their archived image can be reproduced to almost any size and onto various media (canvas, fine art papers, photo papers), giving the artists the ability to customize prints for a specific client.

The above canvas prints were a recent giclee project we produced for a Los Angeles graffiti artist.

Here at Studio Light Room we use the finest printers and products by Epson and Hahnemuhle who are leaders in the fine art and photographic markets.

Father’s Day Drawing Contest

Studio Light Room hosted another drawing contest, the second one of the year. Students at Esther Lindstrom Elementary in Bellflower, CA were asked, “What do you like to do for fun with your Dad?” The children drew pictures expressing their ideas and the results were spectacular! Two winners were chosen from the hundreds of entries and each received a 16”x20” canvas of their creation. These canvas prints were ready to hang and give to Dad for a memorable Father’s Day gift!
